Material and power

Material cost is filament price per kilogram multiplied by slicer weight. Electricity uses average printer wattage, print duration, and your local energy price.

Machine depreciation

A printer is a consumable business asset. Dividing its purchase price by expected service hours assigns a small, defensible machine cost to every job.

Hands-on labor

Do not charge eight hours of labor for an eight-hour autonomous print. Charge the minutes you actually spend preparing, removing, cleaning, sanding, assembling, and packing it.

Expected failures

A 10% failure rate means you need more than one attempt on average to deliver one good part. The calculator divides direct cost by the success rate so that failed jobs are funded by successful ones.

Expected unit cost = direct production cost ÷ (1 − failure rate)

The suggested price is a planning baseline, not a universal market price. Validate it against customer value, taxes, platform fees, and competing offers.
